Whether the blog about foster adoption aims to educate and inform, or to share stories, comfort and inspire, these adoption-through-foster care blogs can remind people that they’re not alone. Whatever your personal experience, there is an “adopting a foster child” blog or a foster-to-adopt blog out there that will have a similar story that can help guide and support you. When you’re trying to find the perfect “adopting from foster care” blog to keep up with, nothing is better than finding someone whose story you really connect with. So, we tried to create a list that featured different experiences, voices and types of insight — about transracial adoptions, raising children with special needs, families that include biological or internationally adopted children and more. Whether these bloggers’ experiences align with your own or are completely different, and whether they are active in the process or their blog posts are several years old, there is something to be gained from each of their insights into adopting (or being adopted) from foster care. With that in mind, here are just ten of the most popular foster-care-to-adoption blogs: 1. Foster the Family “One mom’s light-hearted musings and heavier broodings on foster care, gospel-centered parenting, and mission-focused family.” 2. Rage Against the Minivan “Rage Against the Minivan explores transracial adoption, race, politics, faith, motherhood, international adoption, foster care adoption, and identity.” 3. Confessions of an Adoptive Parent “We have been married for 20 years and parents for 16. All 8 of our children joined our family through adoption. We fostered for 9 years and have had 23 children come through our doors. …We believe in the restoration and preservation of families. We believe in the biological family unit, and desire to lend resources and encouragement to families who need support. We recognize that sometimes children cannot thrive within their family of origin. All children deserve permanency and stability in a forever family. We believe that with support, foster and adoptive parents can guide our families toward healing, security, and healthy identity.” 4. Robyn Cisar “I’m an adoptee who is passionate about empowering others in the adoption triad. I believe understanding the adoptee experience fosters stronger relationships and family values. I hope my story speaks to you and encourages you as we walk this path together.” 5. Lauren Casper “Our family doesn’t exactly blend in with the wallpaper. Not only are we white parents with black children (something that causes enough stares and questions all by itself), but our children also have physical developmental disabilities. In other words, when we all go out together we stand out.” 6. No Bohns About It “I’m the mother of three through both birth and foster care adoption. My then boyfriend, now husband Rob and I were foster parents to James and Mariyah for 3 years before finalizing their adoption in 2012. We’re still licensed foster parents, but not currently planning on taking any placements for the foreseeable future. Our second daughter Violet was born to us on Halloween 2013.” 7. The Forgotten Initiative “You have been given strengths, life experiences, and resources that you can use to help those who are feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or forgotten. When you support agency workers, foster parents, vulnerable adults, and children, you have the opportunity to show Jesus to them.” 8. Jason Johnson “I am a writer and speaker who encourages families and equips churches in their foster care and adoption journeys so they can find the hope and support they need along the way. I’m hopeful this is a place you can find encouragement and inspiration no matter where you are on your own journey – whether just starting to consider it or already in the thick of it.” 9. Creating a Family “Creating a Family is the national infertility, adoption, & foster care education and support nonprofit. Our mission is to strengthen families through unbiased education and support for infertility patients, adoptive parents, foster parents, and allied professionals. …We have the most extensive and diverse collection of resources for those struggling with infertility and for pre and post-adoptive families and foster/kinship care families. We are constantly creating more resources and average adding four new resources every week.” 10. FosterMore “FosterMore is a coalition of not for profit organizations and foundations working to raise awareness of the youth in America’s foster care system. FosterMore shines a light on the amazing potential of kids and families in the foster care system, and empowers all foster kids to reach their dreams through education. FosterMore encourages all of us to play a part in ensuring that foster youth receive the support, nurturing, and guidance they need to succeed in life” Please note: Because these websites are run by individuals and subject to change, we apologize for any broken links or bloggers that are no longer active.
